The CAMpanion Story: We developed the CAMpanion because we wanted a comfortable way to use our GoPros off the mountain and out of the water. We understood that with few minor improvements we could unleash the power of the GoPro into everyday life, all while preserving its extreme functionality. The CAMpanion serves to turn the GoPro & smartphone into a Point-&-Shoot camera, building on and improving the impressive image and video quality of the GoPro.
Technical Explanation: The CAMpanion is designed to work with all GoPro models and generations, and includes a mounting plate, two GoPro mounts (one for exposed GoPro's and the other for cameras insite its mounts) and a rubber lens cap.
Mounting the CAMpanion to your smartphone is easy. Simply slide your GoPro (with the CAMpanion mount attached) into the CAMpanion plate, that is affixed to the back of your smartphone (or smart phone case) or protective enclosure using 3M’s VHB adhesive. The GoPro case slides and locks onto the mounting plate. The lens cap protects the GoPro lens while not in use.
The Team: Sarah Rose is a hobby photographer. She has long been a fan of the GoPro cameras, but found its tiny size frustrating to hold, and the camera itself was difficult to use without a viewfinder or lighting.
Amos Fridlin is a videographer with 20 years of experience in the industry. In the last few years he has begun adding GoPro’s to his toolkit for their compactness and ease of use. The additional footage and angles they allow, especially with the use of drone photography has made Amos a life-long fan of the GoPro brand.
David Itzkowitz is a hobby skier that has been using his Hero 3 White to share his adventures on the mountain with friends. Being able to use his GoPro for more than extreme videos has made the GoPro his camera of choice.
